As Kallie Clay crosses the threshold of the weathered Ramshackle Manor nestled in the heart of Yorkshire, little does she know the enchanting journey that awaits her. Amidst the crumbling walls, she discovers not just a dilapidated estate, but a haven brimming with untamed, sweet magic waiting to be unleashed.
Welcomed by seven spirited orphans, Kallie assumes her role as their governess, soon realizing that they share a bond woven with peculiar powers, each mirroring her own. Guided by the affable Professor Alisdair Avery, whose charm carries a hint of magic itself, they embark on a transformative journey to nurture the children's unique gifts while safeguarding the clandestine sanctuary of Ramshackle. Their path is fraught with challenges as malevolent forces converge, drawn by the ancient power harbored within Ramshackle's walls. Yet, armed with resilience, intellect, and above all, boundless love, they stand united against the looming darkness threatening to engulf their world. Rooted in the historical tapestry of post-war England, with echoes of Operation Pied Piper and the resilience epitomized by Victory gardens and rationing, the story seamlessly weaves reality with fantasy, grounding the reader in a world where magic feels palpably real. Like the Möbius strip from which it draws inspiration, the narrative circles back upon itself, closing where it began, a poignant reminder of the cyclical nature of life and the enduring power of hope and love. |

Milly Avery must begin to live.
From the sheltered perch of her treehouse far above the bustle of the very mod world of 1965, she can see endless possibilities, but no clear path to travel... until her Uncle Ram challenges her with a quest: she must travel through the corridors of time to learn from those practitioners of magicks who came before her. Together they must hold back the vengeful evil struggling to escape the weakening enchantments that bind it. In her journey through the centuries, spanning the Victorian era all the way back to the time of the Roman persecution of the Druids, she finds powerful allies amongst both sides of the eternally feuding Cresswells and Thorntons. As these magical dynasties endanger not only themselves but existence itself, Milly must focus on her newfound powers. Her thoughts, however, drift back to the charming William Ashley. |
